Searching...  Through seas of satin, lace, jewels and tulle.  For the one.  The perfect one.  The one that will best showcase the most beautiful you - on the best day of your life.  It's a thrill ride, and the most amazing emotional rollercoaster.

Throughout your day, you hear it.  A sound, a voice, a song...

The melody of your heart that calls to you amidst the madness of the day.  The one thing that gives you peace.  It whispers your name.  It leaves a trail to show you the way back - from wherever you go.  The moment your soul takes a deep breath and says...

"All is right with the world."

a time and a season.

For everything there is a time and a season.  People come and go, circumstances change, careers blossom, children grow, and the bounty is harvested to make room for more.  This season of my life is the best one yet.  The things that have left my life are better gone than present, the change in my career is more fulfilling than I ever dreamed, and the balance...  wow.  I've rushed - my whole life to get here...  and it's so very beautiful!  The newness is exciting and the collection of my harvests are overwhelming.  So much more than I deserve.  The first song on my list...  resonates in every part of this change.  Last year, I was running the race.  This year I have been waiting.  And listening.  And now I'm moving ahead.  Boldly and confidently.  And praising Him every step of the way... 

I am shooting on location this weekend...  And I can't wait to meet all the new wonderful families who are signed up for sessions!

revelations of a 4 year old...

{yes - that's fox hair.}

Just a little time out to listen...

"Mommi.  Did you know that if me and Sissy are little foxes, that makes you a vixen?"

"Mommi!  Don't say 'play ketchup' with your work!  It's not nice to play with your food and it will ruin your pretty pictures!"

"Don't worry, Mommi.  Sometimes other people aren't really our friends.  But me and Sissy will always be your BEST friends!" 

"You should always be nice.  You should always talk nice.  You should always love everyone.  Because is that the way you want to be treated?"

Perception is reality.  I'm going with it!

Children come into this world selfish and self-centered, with the world seemingly revolving around their needs, wants, wishes, desires and whims.  It is our responsibility as adults, as parents, as humans, as examples, to teach kindness, honor, respect, gentleness of spirit, and awareness.  Awareness of other lives revolving independently of their own.   And the ability to abide in harmony with them.  The desire to respect them.  And the gentleness of spirit to relate to them.  It is sad that some adults have not yet learned these things.  And that the kindness in my 4 year old puts them to shame.

Charlotte is not my favorite place.  Anyone who knows me will tell you that.  But I'm learning to find things I DO love - everywhere.  Even in Charlotte.  Especially in Charlotte.  Last Saturday I stepped out with over 32,000 other fellow photographers to capture the cities we live in...  all around the world...  in Scott Kelby's 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk.  {click the link to read more about it!}
